College Of Education

"The College of Education - addressing the challenges of inclusive, relevant, equitable, and quality education."

The College of Education opens fresh avenues that effectively address the challenges of our times. We prepare our students to be 21st century teachers, future administrators, community leaders, adult educators, counselors, researchers, community trainers, and other education-related careers.

The teacher education programs, Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) andย  Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd),ย  were granted Level III accreditation status by the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP).ย  On the other hand, the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities Accrediting Agency, Inc. (ACSCU-AAI) awarded the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program with a Level III re-accreditation status and the Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) program with Level II status. The collegeโ€™s passing percentage in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) has always been above the national passing percentage.โ€‹

The collegeโ€™s alumni lead successful careers in the Department of Education (DepEd) schools, private schools, and other educational organizations as classroom teachers, head teachers, principals, supervisors, curriculum developers, and education researchers.

Guided by the professors who are also educational leaders, curriculum specialists and education researchers themselves, students acquire knowledge, skills, and the Christian values so that they continue to play a vital role in ensuring that education is inclusive, relevant, equitable, and of high quality.

Since its inception in 1965, the College of Education has developed a progressive curriculum that integrates theory and practice.ย  In teaching, this strategy is accomplished using laboratories and multimedia resources that are continually upgraded to accommodate up-to-date resources in education and educational technology.

Pre-service teachers learn meaningful pedagogies from the classrooms and through teaching immersions conducted in-campus through PCUโ€™s laboratory schools – the PCU-Union Elementary School, PCU-Union High School of Manila and the PCU Senior High School, and off-campus through its affiliations and linkages with selected DepEd schools.

The college integrates research in its conduct of the teaching and learning process and aligns its research activities to the University research agenda. This alignment and integration facilitate the active involvement of its faculty members in educational research.

Today, the College of Education continues on to provide an education that is aligned with the global demands in education, that is responsive to 21st century skills and that is dedicated to inspire lifelong learning.
