“Faith Unleashed: Triumph Over Adversity in Pursuit of Excellence”

The 83rd Commencement Exercises for the Graduate School of Philippine Christian University held on March 11 and 12, 2024, at the prestigious Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) were a resounding success. This momentous event, with the theme “Unyielding Faith, Inspiring Excellence; Navigating Adversity, Embracing Quality Education, and Serving with Character,” showcased the remarkable achievements and dedication of the graduating batch.
The theme of the graduation, “Unyielding Faith, Inspiring Excellence; Navigating Adversity, Embracing Quality Education, and Serving with Character,” encapsulated the values that PCU instills in its graduates. It emphasized the importance of having an unwavering faith, embracing excellence, overcoming challenges, and serving society with utmost integrity.
Distinguished guests, faculty members, students, and proud family members graced the occasion, adding an air of excitement and anticipation. The program commenced with a spirited academic procession, highlighting the diverse academic disciplines that constitute the graduate studies program at PCU.

The commencement addresses were delivered by esteemed guest speakers, whose insightful and motivational words inspired the graduating class to reach for the highest level of success. Their speech encouraged the graduates to persist in their journey, irrespective of the obstacles they might encounter along the way.

Outlined below are the key highlights encapsulating the message delivered by the esteemed commencement speakers:
“We cannot disregard the abilities and opportunities God provides. God has bestowed upon us all possible resources—spiritual resources, skills, abilities, and opportunities enough for us to pursue excellence. Ignoring these resources, we rob God the glory that is due Him, and we also show ingratitude to our Creator. Using our gifts with excellence is one of the best ways to thank God for all that he has bestowed upon us.
As you stand on the threshold of a new beginning, may you hold fast to your unyielding faith, may you strive for excellence in all that you do, may you never stop learning and growing, and may you serve with character and integrity.” – Bishop Israel M. Painit, PCU Board of Trustees Member, March 11, 2024

“The challenge of leadership and citizenship in today’s and citizenship in today’s world is immense. It requires not just knowledge and skills, but a deep-seated commitment to these principles of Faith, Character and Service. As leaders of tomorrow, you’ll be faced with complexed problems that demand innovative solutions. You will be tested not just by the challenges you face, but the choices you make in the face of these challenges.” “…remember, that it is normal to feel both eager and anxious about what the future holds, yet, your Faith, Character, and your desire to be of Service lead you towards and onward.” – Gen. Romeo Saturnino Brawner, Jr., AFP Chief of Staff (message was delivered by LTG. Charlton Sean Gaerlan, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff), March 11, 2024

“Indeed, we have the privilege of two (2) churches pushing behind this. Both the UMC and the UCCP, allowing education online, fully managed and systematic, available 24/7. This is a real pioneering breakthrough and I hope that the government, most especially CHED and the PRC, finally come up on-board, and catch up with you, the Philippine Christian University. Napakalayo, nauna na po kayo! Susunod dapat and ating pamahalaan.” “…your graduation is a reminder of the excellence and quality education provided by private Filipino institutions to deliver the best education there can be.” – Sen. Maria Imelda Josefa Remedios R. Marcos, Senator of the Philippines, March 12, 2024

Among the highlights of the event were the conferring of degrees and the presentation of awards to deserving graduates who showcased exceptional scholarly and leadership skills. The graduates’ hard work and dedication were celebrated, and their achievements became a source of inspiration for future PCU students.

The event was also a platform for recognizing the contributions of faculty members who played a fundamental role in shaping the academic journey of the graduates. PCU acknowledged their unwavering commitment to providing quality education and fostering an environment conducive to personal growth and development.
Adding a touch of artistry to the ceremony, the musical performances interludes showcased the rich heritage and talent of the PCU community. This allowed the attendees to appreciate not only the academic achievements but also the vibrant culture that flourishes within the university.
