ACSCU-ACI Hosts Training for Prospective Accreditors: A Commitment to Quality and Excellence in Christian Education

The Association of Christian Schools, Colleges & Universities – Accrediting Council, Inc. (ACSCU-ACI) successfully conducted its Training for Prospective Accreditors on July 30–31, 2025, at the Philippine Christian University (PCU) – Manila. This two-day event equipped future accreditors with essential knowledge, practical tools, and spiritual grounding to uphold quality assurance in Christian higher education institutions.
Opening Ceremonies: A Celebration of Faith and Purpose
The training commenced with a spirit-filled opening ceremony, setting a tone of reflection, collaboration, and excellence. The PCU College Chorale, led by Dr. Thomas Cabantac, opened with the Invocation and National Anthem, creating a reverent and patriotic atmosphere.
Dr. Margie Dela Cruz, PCU Vice President for Academics & Globalization, warmly welcomed the participants, underscoring PCU’s commitment to accreditation as a pathway to institutional growth. She was followed by Dr. Junifen F. Gauuan, PCU President, and Mr. Angelito P. Pedreño, ACSCU-ACI Executive Director, who both shared inspiring messages reinforcing the importance of accreditation in Christian education.
The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Miriam P. Narbarte, who highlighted the moral and professional responsibilities of accreditors and the importance of upholding Christian values throughout the accreditation process.
A special musical performance by the PCU College Chorale, featuring “May Ibong Kakanta-Kanta” and “Wala Nang Natira”, added a creative and emotional layer to the program—celebrating the cultural and spiritual dimensions of education.









Day 1: Grounding in Accreditation Fundamentals
Day 1 focused on establishing a solid understanding of accreditation principles:
- Session 1: Overview of Accreditation Standards & ACSCU-ACI Criteria
- Session 2: Accreditation Process – From Application to Survey Visit
- Session 3: Roles of the Applicant School, Team Leader, and Accreditors
- Session 4: Survey Work – Rating Scale, Schedule, and Report Writing
A musical interlude by Dr. Marjorie Dela Cruz and Dr. Nina Ricci Perida showcased the talents and dedication of PCU’s academic community.
The day concluded with a Mock Accreditation Orientation, during which participants were grouped and briefed on the next day’s simulation activities.














Day 2: Practical Application and Simulation
The second day emphasized real-world application through an immersive Mock Accreditation Visit. Participants engaged in simulated document reviews, interviews, and institutional assessments—gaining firsthand experience of the intricacies of on-site surveys.
A special performance by Dr. Jeffrey Perida, Director of PCU’s University Academic & Extension Program, provided a refreshing and uplifting interlude before collaborative group activities.
In the afternoon, participants presented their group reports and role-playing outputs, receiving immediate feedback from ACSCU-ACI trainers. A reflective panel discussion followed, offering practical insights and reinforcing key lessons from the training.
Closing Program: A Commitment Renewed
Certificates were awarded to the resource speakers in recognition of their valuable contributions. In the closing remarks, ACSCU-ACI trainers commended the participants for their professionalism, enthusiasm, and shared commitment to advancing quality in Christian education.
The program concluded with a joyful group photo—capturing the spirit of unity, excellence, and faith that permeated the two-day event.
