Philippine Christian University formalized an internship partnership for the College of Education with Mathayom Wat Maikrongtong School in Thailand through a Memorandum of Agreement signed by Dr. Junifen F. Gauuan, Dr. Margie Dela Cruz, and Dr. Vida T. Dones, together with the partner school’s representatives. The collaboration provides students with international teaching experiences, strengthens their professional and cultural competencies, and prepares future educators for meaningful global engagement.

Philippine Christian University Hosts Historic Cultural and Educational Exchange with Papua New Guinea Delegation.

May 5, 2025 | Manila, Philippines — In a celebration of international unity and academic collaboration, the Philippine Christian University (PCU) welcomed distinguished guests from Papua New Guinea for a momentous event held at the 7th Floor of the Science and Technology Building, PCU Taft Avenue Campus. Themed “Bridging Nations, Building Futures Through Education & Culture,” the program aimed to strengthen ties between the two nations through shared educational and cultural values.

The event commenced with the Entrance of Colors, followed by a solemn invocation led by Dr. Marjorie DG Dela Cruz, MD, MBA, Ph.D., and accompanied by the PCU Manila Vocal Ensemble. Both the Philippine and Papua New Guinea national anthems were performed, setting a tone of respect, unity, and celebration.

PCU President Dr. Junifen F. Gauuan, Ph.D., delivered the opening remarks, underscoring the university’s ongoing commitment to global partnerships and inclusive education. The audience was then treated to moving musical performances by the PCU Manila Vocal Ensemble, including powerful renditions of “Soon Ah Will Be Done” and “Amazing Grace.”

A key highlight was the welcome message from the Honorable Benjamin Mul, MP, Member of Parliament for North Waghi Open and Founder & President of Waigani Christian College and Papua New Guinea Christian University. He emphasized the critical importance of cross-cultural collaboration in nation-building.

The celebration continued with an uplifting intermission performance by the PCU College Choral, followed by a keynote address from the Honorable Minister Kinoka Hotune Feo, MP, Minister of the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (DHERST) of Papua New Guinea. Minister Feo highlighted the transformative power of education and the value of fostering deeper academic linkages between Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.

The audience was further inspired by a stirring performance from the PCU Grand Choir, featuring selections such as “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” “Climb Every Mountain,” and the “Hallelujah Chorus.”

The event concluded with a closing prayer led by Rev. Ricardo Bernardino, PhD., PCU Chaplain, followed by a lunch fellowship. Guests also enjoyed a cultural show by the PCU Dance Troupe, engaged in dialogue with university administrators, and toured the campus.

This landmark gathering marked a significant milestone in PCU’s internationalization efforts and reinforced its role as a bridge between cultures, united by the shared goal of educational excellence.

International conference explores the future of education: Education 5.0 and beyond

The Admission Experts International Multidisciplinary Journal for Research, Publication, and Conferences (AEIMJRPC), in partnership with the Philippine Christian University, recently hosted its second educational research conference in the heart of Dubai.

The event, held at the Bristol Hotel Ballroom, brought together an impressive array of scholars, education experts, and emerging minds from various corners of the globe. Under the theme of “Education 5.0 and Beyond,” the conference aimed to explore the evolving landscape of education in the 21st century.

Distinguished guests and speakers from Africa, as well as the Philippines, graced the occasion with their insights and knowledge.

The Member of Parliament for the Bawku Central Constituency, Mahama Ayariga, delivered an impactful keynote address.

His message emphasized the pivotal role that education plays in the future of nations and the importance of continued innovation in teaching and learning.

The event saw the presence of prominent African figures, including Hon. Ras Mubarak, former MP for Kumbungu Constituency, Cde Nicholas Tobocani Rari, Secretary-General for the Botswana Sectors of Educator Trade Union (BOSETU), and Ms. Loide Shaanika, Secretary-General of the Namibia National Teachers Union (NANTU).

Their participation underscored the significance of cross-border collaboration in the quest for educational excellence.

Dr. Junifen Gauuan, President of the Philippine Christian University, shared inspiring words of wisdom with the attendees. He emphasized the need for students to take their studies seriously, viewing them as a preparation for the “African century” and a time of immense opportunity and growth on the continent.

Dr. James Antwi, Director of the Ghana Adventist Health Services, delivered a thought-provoking message, urging African students to invest in research efforts aimed at advancing African development.

His words resonated with the audience, highlighting the importance of homegrown solutions and innovations for the continent’s challenges.

In his closing remarks, the CEO of the Admission Experts encouraged students to apply the knowledge and insights gained during the conference to their respective pursuits. He highlighted the practical value of the conference and urged participants to ensure that their attendance was not in vain.

The conference brought together a diverse group of young scholars and aspiring Ph.D. candidates from Ghana, Botswana, Namibia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and the Philippines. It served as a forum for the exchange of ideas and the forging of international partnerships, emphasizing the collaborative approach needed to shape the future of education.

2023 China-ASEAN Forum on Agricultural Vocational Education

On September 18, 2023, the China-ASEAN Agricultural Vocational Education Forum was held in Nanning. Participants from China and around the world came together to exchange ideas on how to enhance the quality of Agricultural vocational education within the China-ASEAN Community of Destiny, with a focus on “Building an Integrated Community Enabling High-Quality Development.” The forum delved into various measures aimed at achieving this objective. Distinguished guests from China and abroad convened to discuss strategies for the development of high-quality agricultural vocational education within the China-ASEAN community of destiny.

Dr. James Liaoyong, the Vice President of CIE-PCU, was honored with an invitation to attend and address the gathering. During the event, Dr. James Liaoyong put forward four proposals for innovative cooperation in vocational education between China and the Philippines. Firstly, he proposes a robust support for the global expansion of China’s vocational education thru encouraging private investments from Chinese enterprises and universities and establish collaborative or independent educational institutions in the Philippines. This initiative includes the creation of engineering and technical colleges and universities, along with the establishment of international centers for applied talent development and scientific research facilities.

Secondly, he also advocates for the establishment of international public training centers in both China and the Philippines, supported by programs such as “Luban Workshop”,”Silk Road Academy” and “Panda Workshop”. Additionally, this center aims to provide extensive opportunities for Filipino engineering and technical students to participate in local training and exchange programs. He further, urge a substantial number of Filipino engineering students to enroll in Chinese colleges and universities to benefit from state-of-the-art equipment and acquire highly sought-after skills. Similarly, we encourage Chinese students to pursue English language studies in the Philippines.

Thirdly, Dr. James Liaoyong offers encouraging Chinese vocational students to undertake short or extended study programs in the Philippines to enhance their English proficiency and academic qualifications. To facilitate this, the government should offer low-interest study-abroad loans to families in need, enabling more children from low- and middle-income households to pursue English language education in the Philippines for this will empower them to secure higher-paying positions in both Chinese and foreign-funded enterprises abroad.

Fourthly, he seeks to collaborate on elevating vocational education standards to meet international benchmarks in both China and the Philippines. This will surely assists educational institutions in the Philippines for local technicians in enhancing their engineering skills and pursuing employment opportunities in Europe and the developed areas. These efforts will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the livelihoods of ordinary families.

It’s time to celebrate and appreciate the remarkable accomplishments of women in society, business, culture, and politics. And it’s an occasion to celebrate as well as to recognize how much work needs to be done to achieve true equity for women everywhere.

We pause to pay tribute to all women—past, present, and future—who have excelled in achieving equity through their own strength, resilience, and bravery during this Women’s Month. It’s time to enhance environments where everyone feels appreciated, engaged, and empowered to reach their full potential as we reaffirm our commitment to embracing and encompassing equity for women.

I am honoured to participate in the celebration this year as a woman, a mother, a sister, and a member of the PCU female workforce. Let’s take this chance to recognize the difficulties we all face and the actions we can do to help women improve their perspectives in an educational workplace like PCU today.
