The PCU College of Education and Allied Programs (CEDAP) offers educational program that encompasses the development of educators both in the Elementary and Secondary levels of basic education. The present challenges of education such as K-12 implementation, ASEAN 2015, Center of Development and the current trend of globalization are the bases of equipping and honing the students with the basic knowledge, skills and values that will help them achieve academic excellence. Such education is grounded upon and pursued along the vision of the university which is a “distinctively strong Christian university integrating faith, character and service in building up and enhancing the quality of life” and the department vision which is “a service – oriented college committed to the continuous pursuit of excellence in the development of Christian teachers and school managers”. Thus, we are tasked to nurture and produce globally competitive teachers and school managers with strong Christian conviction.
CEDAP continuously nurture FAITH of our faculty and students through Bible studies, devotions, convocations and retreats; enhance CHARACTER through role models of Christian Values and corporate image; and inspire SERVICE through quality teaching/learning, maintaining high accreditation level, high percentage of LET board passers, sustaining linkages and community outreach program and meeting international standards being an ISO certified university. In teaching, this strategy is accomplished using laboratories and multi-media resources that are continually upgraded to accommodate cutting-edge topics in education and educational technology.
In regards strategies and methods of teaching, student teachers learn through practice teaching conducted in the laboratory schools of Philippine Christian University-Union Elementary School and Union High School and off-campus, in affiliated private and public schools.
To achieve its research objectives, the College of Education is integrating the teaching improvement activities for language and education to the research agenda of other development units within Philippine Christian University such as the Center for Research and Instructional Materials.
This integration facilitates the active involvement of all faculty members in educational and language research such as those being implemented in the areas of English Language Proficiency, Child Education, Remedial Teaching, Test and Measurement, and Computer-Aided Education.
